Lakeshore Chamber Celebrates "Hearts of The Lakeshore"

On February 11th, The Lakeshore Chamber celebrated their “Hearts of the Lakeshore” Annual Dinner with nearly 600 reservations at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond.

The Lakeshore Chamber honored their 2011 Business Persons of the Year , local WJOB Radio Celebrities/Owners, Alexis and Jim Dedelow, and the popular Chancellor of Ivy Tech, Chancellor J. Guadalupe Valtierra. Additionally, the chamber recognized our ever-vigilant police, fire, EMT’s, and teachers of the year for the communities of Hammond and East Chicago.

Teachers of the Year : Kellie A. Ramsey, Hammond; David M. Tokarz, East Chicago

Police Officers : Officer Kevin D. Holland, Hammond, and Master Patrolman Miguel Pena, East Chicago

Firefighters : Private David Lowell Weisz, Hammond, and Chauffeur Hector L. Encarnacion, East Chicago

EMT’s : EMT-2 Danny Niloff, Hammond, and EMT-B. Asst. Supervisor Raul Zamora, East Chicago

Chairman Jeff Williams and Special Events Chair Monica Garcia presented Longevity Awards to local businesses celebrating their years in business: First Baptist Church of Hammond 125 Years; Calumet Lumber, Inc. 105 Years; Northern Indiana Public Service Co. 100 Years; Ferree Movers, Inc. 80 Years; Optimist Club of Hammond 75 Years; Catholic Charities Diocese of Gary 75 Years; Towne Centre Retirement Community 25 Years; United Transportation Group, Inc. 25 Years; The Golden Studio 20 Years; Legacy Foundation 20 Years; Nazareth Home 20 Years.

Mayor Anthony Copeland, East Chicago, and Mayor Tom McDermott, Jr. were in attendance, and the mayors presented Economic Development Awards .
